Gecko Traxx is a unique, flexible tire accessory that wraps around existing wheelchair on-road tires to enable off-road access. The cross-section design is unobtrusive when fitted and expands when in contact with the ground, increasing surface area by three times only where needed. Features an integrated clip that can be used with limited dexterity, allowing users to fit the tires independently without transferring out of the wheelchair. Works across multiple terrains including sand, snow, soft grass, and gravel. Small and portable, packing into a small bag. Designed by Ryan Tilley at RMIT University. Winner of the 2019 Australian National James Dyson Award. Commercialized with support from the Melbourne Accelerator Program.
